Anaesthesia has traditionally meant the condition of having sensation (including the feeling of pain) blocked or temporarily taken away. This enables our specialists to perform medical procedures painlessly for people in our care.
At Royston Hospital, our Consultant Anaesthetists provide services including sedation through to full anaesthesia during operations. They also provide comprehensive forms of pain relief that are specific to the procedure being performed and to each patient.
Bariatric surgery, or weight loss/obesity surgery, is a type of procedure performed on people who are obese, for the purpose of losing weight.
Endoscopy is a non-surgical procedure used in the examination and treatment of the gastrointestinal tract. At Royston, we provide colonoscopy and gastroscopy procedures in our purpose-built facility. People in our care who receive our Endoscopy services benefit from all the conveniences our hospital has to offer, including the experience of leading specialists, support staff and technology.
Our experienced and highly trained specialists treat a range of general surgery specific conditions in adults and children. A surgical specialty, general surgery focuses on abdominal contents, including breast, small intestine, large intestine, hernia repair, gallbladder, thyroid gland, rectal procedures including haemorrhoidectomy.
Gynaecological is the medical practice dealing with the health of the female reproductive system (uterus, vagina, and ovaries). It can also involve the bladder.

Laparoscopic surgery, also called minimally invasive surgery, bandaid surgery or keyhole surgery is a modern surgical technique in which operations in the abdomen are performed through small incisions (usually 0.5–1.5cm). Laparoscopic procedures are carried out by General Surgeons and Gynaecologists.
Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine which deals with the anatomy, functions, and diseases of the eye.
Ophthalmology surgeries include cataract extraction, strabismus and lid surgeries.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is performed to correct a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.
Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system which includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.
