Havelock North CME session: Endoscopy, Gastroenterology, and General Surgery presentations

During this event, GPs and primary healthcare practitioners will hear a presentation from Dr Ana Braithwaite (Gastroenterology), Dr John Wyeth (Endoscopy, Gastroenterology), Dr Bertrand Jauffret (Endoscopy, General Surgery) on ‘Bowel cancer in younger patients, when to screen ideally’ and ‘Ileostomy indications and metabolic consequences in the community’.

Mr Bertrand Jauffrat – “Bowel cancer in younger patients, when to screen ideally” and “Ileostomy indications and metabolic consequences in the community”

Learning outcomes:

  • the need of screening early and the bowel cancer NZ association
  • the reason of using ileostomy in rectal surgery and how to manage them in the community

Dr Ana Braithwaite – ” Quality in Colonoscopy”

Learning outcomes: 

  • what Colonoscopy is
  • why Colonoscopy matters

Dr John Wyeth – “A case of atypical reflux, and a case of dysphagia” and “Oesophageal motility studies and their indications”

Learning outcomes:

  • how to manage a patient with reflux symptoms resistant to medical therapy
  • how to investigating dysphagia
